My reflections on creating this Web Site for the On Line Class CED/537 Web Authorizing for Educators from The University of Phoenix.

I used Macromedia's Web Design Studio 4 to create this site. This program includes Dreamweaver, Flash, Fireworks, and Freehand. Dreamweaver seems to have a small learning curve and I was making web pages in no time at all. The most difficult part of making web pages, was following the course e-book and creating good, attractive, and functional web pages. I have learned much from this class and I am pleased with the results.

One of my biggest challenges with making this site occurred when I was converting digital photographs to JPEGs for use on the web site. I was using the Fireworks program and it would save every photo as a very large PNG file. These files were way too large and took forever for them to download. I finally gave up on Fireworks and used the school's Photoshop program to create the JPEGs I needed. Later one of my classmates gave me some information on how to make Fireworks save as JPEGs and I was able to use that program successfully.

One other major challenge for me came when I went to up load my Web Site to the Server. I didn't understand how to use the FTP program. I worked at it myself for two very frustrating days, and after breaking the connection within the server, I had to contact Technical Help from my web host. They fixed what I had broken and helped me set up the FTP program in Dreamweaver so I could up load and edit my Web Site. Once they showed me how to set it up, I felt a little foolish for not being able to figure it out myself.

I am not done with this site, and probably never will be. I plan to evolve this site into a complete Winslow Music Web Site for my program at school. I have already added directory pages and will be creating pages to link to these in the future.
