  Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart
1756-1791

Mozart was one of the most influential composers of the Classical Period (1750-1820). His genius as a composer is evidenced by the over 600 compositions he created in his short life. Most of his compositions have endured through the ages and many of his works are part of the standard concert repertoire.

I think it is interesting to note that while the great composers of the Classical Era were creating their musical masterpieces, James Watt invented the steam engine, the American Colonies fought for their freedom and signed the Declaration of Independence, George Washington was elected U.S. President, and Louis & Clark explored the Northwest U.S.
