_________   Musical Theater - Notes on the Performance
To help you write your musical critique of the Show, answer "1" through "10" in complete sentences on your word processor.

     1. You must include the Title of the Musical, the date and location of the performance, the name of the performing ensemble. Remember the reviews you read?
    2.  Use the musical terms; dynamics, style, articulation, form, harmony, melody, rhythm, intonation meter, and texture, to describe the performance.
    3. Describe the ensemble performers. Did they work well as a unit? Did they sound balanced? Were their attacks and releases together? Did they Blend?
    4. How was the choreography and blocking? Did movements have purpose? Did performers move enough? Could you see all the action?
    5. Be specific - name the musical selections and soloists you are mentioning. Did someone "steal" the show?
    6. Describe a piece of the show that you most enjoyed and why was it your favorite.
    7. Describe the piece on the program you least enjoyed and why.
    8. Describe the set. Was the set functional? Did it enhance the show? Were scene changes quiet and fast? What was your favorite set piece.
    9. Briefly describe the story line of the show.
10.. Did the show plot hold your attention? Was it entertaining? Did you enjoy the music and the pit band?

Don't say anything too vague or general. Some examples might be - "they sounded good" (you can do better than that!), "the dynamics were good" (how did they achieve that amazing dynamic contrast?), "the rhythms were interesting" (why were they interesting?), "I liked that song" (Why?), "the band had nice harmonies" (Huh?).
