  • Students choose a meter and place it on the staff on the dry board.
  • Each student comes up to the board, chooses a note or rest, ( choice of whole, half, dotted quarter, quarter, and eigth notes and rests) and places it on the staff on any line or space.
  • Students have to decide as a group where to place bar lines.
  • When all the students have had a turn and the composition is complete, the teacher plays the class composition and the students can clap the rhythm.
  • If time permits the class could add simple lyrics to the composition.
